Music & Arts Learning (MALer) Lab (@ Dept. Art & Technology, Sogang University) aims to understand music through computational approaches, with a focus on deep learning. Our research spans broad areas of music information retrieval, including music generation, computational musicology, and music modality translation. Our research encompasses diverse musical genres, with special emphasis on Korean traditional music and Western classical music. The ultimate goal of our work is to deepen our understanding of music and contribute to the preservation and flourishing of diverse musical cultural heritages.

Due to our current funding situation, it is difficult for us to take on new students. For the time being, we are unable to guarantee financial support, including tuition and a monthly stipend, for incoming Master’s/Ph.D. students. Partial support may be available for students in the Department of Art & Technology if selected for the Professional Manpower Training for XR (XR 전문인력양성사업), though this is not guaranteed. We therefore ask that you consider applying only if you are able to secure your own funding (e.g., external scholarships or self-funding).
